Location

ISMAR 2023 will be held in Sydney, Australia. Sydney is a vibrant cosmopolitan city known for its iconic landmarks, stunning harbor, and diverse cultural scene. The conference will be held at the John Niland Scientia building, University of New South Wales, located in Kensington, Sydney. It is easily accessible from the city centre by bus and tram (i.e., light rail). Accessible toilets, parking and accessible routes on campus – including areas of the campus under construction are outlined in the UNSW interactive campus map.

Arriving

By plane: Getting to UNSW from the Sydney International Airport typically requires a combination of train and an additional public transport mode. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes, and you can start by taking the Airport Link train service, which offers regular trains running approximately every 10 minutes. The train station is located at the northern end of the airport terminal and is accessible from the Arrivals level. Directions on getting to the venue

UNSW is well connected to Sydney’s public transport system. The John Niland Scientia building is within a 5-minute walk to two light rail stops: UNSW Anzac Parade and UNSW High Street. These stations can be accessed from key Sydney locations, including Circular Quay or Central Station (Chalmer’s Street) using light rail lines L2 and L3. Both light rail stops have wheel chair access, however, the path from UNSW Anzac Parade to the John Niland Scientia building is mostly flat and therefore recommended from an accessibility perspective.

The public transport system in Sydney operates via the Opal card system. These cards can be purchased at a local Newsagency and topped up with funds at most transportation stations. You can alternatively use a number of standard credit cards to interact with this system directly (e.g., AMEX, VIA, MASTERCARD). In either case, please be sure to tap on when boarding and tap off when disembarking to ensure you receive the correct fare.

By taxi and rideshares: Prices for taxis and rideshares to UNSW vary based on travel distance. For travels lasting 20 minutes or more, such as from the city center or the airport to UNSW, expect to pay between 25 and 40 AUD. For shorter trips of 15 minutes or less, the prices range from 9 to 15 AUD, offering more affordable options for quick journeys to UNSW.
